Spring has sprung not only outside the LC gymnasium but inside it as well on Thursday, April 10, for the Spring Band Concert.
“For this [concert], we compete at ISSMA [Indiana State School Music Association], so you kind of have to work a little harder,” Cassidy Michau (11) said.
The band has been rehearsing the pieces played at the Spring Concert for almost three months, fine tuning them so that they are perfect for ISSMA. The dedication has taught the students a lot.
“I’m on the drum line. We play mallets and stuff, so you just kind of learn a little bit about everything,” Michau said.
For this concert, the band was forced to perform in the gymnasium rather than the auditorium, where the concerts usually take place.
“Due to [remodeling], we don’t have the theater to perform in, so we had to do it in the gym this time, and the gym is a horrible place to perform in,” Jesse Jashenski (11) said.
Although the conditions weren’t ideal, the band didn’t let it affect their performance.
“It went really well–here were some mistakes, but we are going to fix it for ISSMA coming up,” Michau said.
