Travelling from Germany to Spain to France all in one hour, students were able to learn about the cultures of three different countries at the International Club call-out meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Nicole Nuzzo (12) and Nathan Guilfoyle (12) decided to start the club to immerse students in cultures and ideas from around the world.
“I want to do international business for my major. I love learning about different types of people and cultures,” Nuzzo said.
Foreign exchange students presented information from their home countries to the club. Each of the three students shared their unique traditions, cuisines and lifestyles in comparison to those of the United States.
“It was pretty cool because I really like sharing cultures with other people. That’s also the reason why I came here to show there is not only the US in the world. With different cultures, you get different viewpoints, different opinions. You learn more about different cultures, [and] why they really do things,” Maximilian Von Boxberg (11) said.
The club plans to meet about once a month for the rest of the school year where they will listen to more speakers and enjoy international food.
“I think the most important thing is getting educated. The world is so much bigger than Indiana and Chicago and America, even,” Nuzzo said.
