Freshman Girls Volleyball started off the season right with a win against Andrean in their first game on Aug. 16. Winning the best two out of three sets, the scores were 25-4 and 25-7, respectively.
The hitters seemed to be in command of the offense, and they won the first two sets quickly, ending the match early without a third set.
“They were good. They served very tough, and they weren’t nervous at all. I looked at them and got the jitterbugs, thinking ‘oh gosh, what are we going into,’ but they played really well, really, really well,” Coach Lindsay Thompson said.
The coach was unsure of how the players would work together in their first game, but they proved to be a powerful team. Every player got playing time, and the freshmen showed themselves to be a strong group.
Coach Thompson gave the girls advice at the beginning of the game: “Get on them, let them make the mistakes.”
The freshman team’s next match is Tuesday, Aug. 21st, at home at 5:30 p.m. against Munster High School.
