The boys’ track team had their first outdoor meet against Valparaiso on April 9. Though the meet was an annual practice meet with the Valparaiso High School Team, the boys’ track team took the event very seriously.

“I feel like everyone still worked really hard. Maybe the events people were in didn’t reflect what they were going do, but our team definitely took it seriously,” Zachary Hupp (10) said.

Being the first meet, the team got a look at how they work under pressure.

“We definitely need to work on our handoffs. Even though it was a non-scored meet, if they would have scored it, I think we would have won,” Nathan Zajac (11) said.

Though it is early in the season, the team members are ready for what is to come.

“I think we are looking really good. Our sprinting team is doing phenomenal, and our field events are good as always,” Hupp said.

Having beaten Munster on Saturday, April 12, the team’s next meet is on Tuesday, April 15, against Crown Point and Portage.
