The girls varsity softball team played Michigan city at home on Tuesday April 8. The girls won with a score of 14-0.

“We played very well. We were hitting very good. [Our biggest strengths were] good pitching and hitting,” Elizabeth Seymour (12) said.

Although the score hints toward a perfect game for the girls, they still encountered setbacks.

“We have a couple players injured, so we have some new people at positions that normally wouldn’t play there,” Seymour said.

As the season continues, the girls are getting used to the change in positioning and they’re getting back into the swing of things.

“We did good because even though we knew Michigan City isn’t our biggest competition, we still played our game and capitalized on their errors,” Sydney Scherzinger (11) said.

Nevertheless, as the season continues, the girls expect to get back into the swing of things.

“We just need to get some more games under our belts with those people at those positions,” Seymour said.

The next girls varsity softball game will be Tuesday April 15, against Chesterton High School at home.
