Varsity baseball outscores Valpo 11-2

In midst of the cold rainy weather, the varsity boys baseball team turned up the heat against the Valparaiso Vikings. The Indians were down most of the game and scored multiple runs in the last few innings, outscoring the Vikings 11-2.

John Milaszewski (12) pitched 15 strikeouts, taking a big weight off the Indian defense in the field.

“I’ve never thrown that many strikeouts before. My fastball, for the most part, I had control of and that’s what they were struggling with,” Milaszewski said.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions of the game, Milaszewski pitched the entire game.

“It’s easier to pitch and have confidence when you have a defense behind you that has your back,” Milaszewski said.

Benjamin Nisle (9) hit a grandslam in the bottom of the 5th, which sent the Indians a comfortable distance away from the Vikings.

“It was a great feeling just to know that I could help my team out like that and provide run support,” Nisle said.

Being a freshman, Nisle feels that he has some big shoes to fill.

“All my teammates are very accepting of me and have been supporting me the whole way through,” Nisle said

The Indians hope to continue this momentum in their next game at home on May 5 against Chesterton at 4:30 p.m.
