The Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated its first sectional rival, Gavit High School, on Thursday October 5, 2011. The boys kept the Gavit Gladiators scoreless, shutting them out with a 10-0 victory. Some JV players were even called up to play in the varsity game.
Within the first two minutes of the game, Troy Chervan (12), and Paul Junokas (11) each scored goals to help the Indians get a quick lead of 2-0.
“It felt good to get the first [goal] under our belt,” Chervan said.
The boys continued their scoring streak. Among those adding to the scoreboard in the game were Josh Crague (11), Ethan Donovan (12), Brian Zimmer (12), Adam VanMilligan (11), Ethan Kawalec (11) and Trevor Clapman (10).
The Indians look to keep their winning streak alive as they battle the Trojans in their next sectional game.
“[Next game] we are playing Highland. Last time, we only beat them 1-0,” Dieter Schultz (12) said.
