On Jan. 12 the boys and girls varsity swim teams faced the Michigan City Wolves. Both teams came out victorious with the boys winning 128-57 and the girls winning 127-58.
“It was the last home meet for the seniors and they wanted to end their career with a good note. I swam the 100 back and I got first and it was a pretty good race,” Victoria Springman (11) said.
This was the last home meet of the season, and for the seniors it was the last home meet of the high school career. The 10 seniors were honored in a ceremony before the meet and celebrated their victory after with pizza and other refreshments.
“[The meet] was a lot of fun. It was nice because I made a lot of great friendships the past three years I have been on the team. It was awesome because you get to hear everyone scream for you. Knowing that they’re all looking up to you being a senior after three years of hard work is a great feeling,” Hailey Garlich (12) said.
The team as a whole thought the win was a good way to end senior night.
“I think our team did really good because it was senior night, so everyone was really excited and we just wanted to have fun with their races instead of focusing on the competitive side of everything,” Marina Vasquez (11) said.
