On Feb. 2, the boys varsity basketball team faced off against the Merrillville Pirates. The Indians fought hard against Merrillville after being tied for most of the third period. The Indians came out on top and won 44-40.

Lake Central had some special guests to help the fans get excited for the game.

“Max Jones [is] the director [of Purdue’s] band, and he approached me last summer sometime about June. [He asked] about a partnership that entails their pep band to come here tonight to play with our top band kids,” Mr. Chris Harmon, Music, said.

With the help of Purdue’s band, the game had a different and more positive atmosphere.

“It’s been a blast tonight. I mean, it’s a great time. [There’s] a lot of energy here, and it’s a lot of fun.” Mr.Harmon said.

This is not the only time the two bands plan on coming together to play music together.

“This is the first thing we’re doing. then we’re trying to work out the rest of the schedule [so that we can] go down [to Purdue] and they come back here.” Mr. Harmon said.
