The girls tennis team took on the Valparaiso Vikings on April 23. After a long game, Lake Central pulled through and won the match with a final score of 3-2.
“We did really well, and I think it was a great match. It’s been a long time since we’ve beat [Valparaiso]. It was just a good team effort, especially [because] we had people sitting out, so the whole lineup was changed,” Navneet Kaur (12) said.
After playing match after match the previous week, some of the players had to sit out due to minor injuries. Because of this, the lineup had to be slightly adjusted to accommodate for the injured players.
“I am [eager to get back out there]. Sitting out on this one was hard. I really wanted to play Valparaiso [because] it’s our first DAC match. After I recover, I’m going to try not to get hurt anymore. I’ll try to do my best and win [my sets],” Katrina Lozanoski (10) said.
Even though the lineup was changed to accommodate the injured players, the team adjusted. They have set goals to stay on track until their teammates can make their comeback.
“It was nice for everyone to step in and take care of business. Emily Birlson (12) wasn’t with me, so I wanted to [play my best] for her. She [will be out] for [about] one to two weeks,” Kaur said.
