On Friday, May 1, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” exploded into theaters. The entire cast from the first movie, except Agent Coulson, returned to save the world. The sequel also introduced new characters into the Marvel World.
Without giving away too many details, Tony Stark (Iron Man) attempted to make a system of artificial intelligence using the power from what was later revealed as an Infinity Gem. His plan backfired, and this intelligent machine became Ultron, the antagonist of the movie. The Avengers used their abilities, as well as snarky banter and sly remarks, to defeat their foe, and the happy-go-lucky feeling remained throughout the movie.
This movie was just as good as the first because it packed fights, destruction and humor into a two-hour movie. However, being a Marvel movie, it lacked depth and originality. The plot line remained stagnant and bland throughout the movie, which made it seem like a filler, transitioning the focus from the Avengers to an intergalactic battle between worlds. The movie introduced the Infinity Gauntlet as well as The Vision, who is the main focus of the Marvel World, but everything else around it seemed petty and unneeded.
Despite this, I recommend that you go see the movie in theaters simply because it’s The Avengers, and that, in itself, makes it epic.
