Apart from the immensely improved athletic facilities, the upcoming athletic seasons will be a time of new beginnings, as Mr. Brandon Ridenour has been named the new athletic director.
From being a tri-athlete in high school, three-year starter in basketball at Eastern New Mexico University, basketball coach at both high school and collegiate levels and teacher and athletic director at Gavit High School, Mr. Ridenour will extend his experience as he begins his leadership at Lake Central.
“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Lake Central team. Lake Central School Corporation is a first class organization with great leadership and vision, serving a great community where I will live and raise my own children. I hope to follow the example set by Mr. [Tony] Bartolomeo as I work with a great group of leaders and coaches, leading talented and dedicated student-athletes. With the quality of people, coaches, student-athletes and facilities that are second-to-none in the state of Indiana, I believe the sky is the limit for Lake Central Athletics. I appreciate the opportunity to be a member of the team,” Mr. Ridenour, Athletic Director, said.
While Mr. Bartolomeo will return to teaching science and coaching football, Mr. Ridenour will step up in his place. He will continue an athletic program that ranked first for girls and second for boys in the DAC All-Sports Ranking.
“[Mr. Ridenour’s] accomplishments are many, but what most impressed the hiring committee is his service to students, his humility and his sense of team. This is an extremely exciting time at Lake Central High School, and we all look forward to welcoming [Mr. Ridenour] and his family to our team. We are excited to work with him as he leads our student-athletes and the Lake Central athletic program,” Mr. Sean Begley, Principal, said.
