For most students the evening of Friday, Dec. 18, began with a brief snowfall and the realization that winter break was finally a reality; however, conditions for the varsity girls basketball team were slightly different.
The focus for the Lady Indians was defending their undefeated record in the DAC, which is exactly what happened when they scored 62 points against Crown Point’s 20.
“We just wanted to play hard and have great teamwork to get the job done in 32 minutes. It was definitely a team effort, so we just have to get things going. Once people get things going, we won’t stop. We keep getting better and better,” Kylie Fehrman (11) said.
Apart from having one semester left of high school, being a starting player against a local rival put Alyssa Todd’s (12) final season with Lake Central into perspective.
“Last year we were juniors and we had six seniors ahead of us, so it feels good to be able to take that leadership role. I think that it’s awesome that we’re 4-0 in the DAC, and we’re going for the DAC title,” Todd said.
