Q: What events do track and field have?

A: There’s a lot of running races, like a four by one rely, four by two and a four by four. There’s also sprints, distances and field events like high jump, long jump, shotput and discuss.

Q: What events do you participate in?

A: I throw shotput and discuss.

Q: Are you on the varsity team?

A: I’m on varsity discus this year and hopefully next year I’ll be on varsity for shotput, but I don’t know.

Q: How do you think you’ll place for these events?

A: I don’t really know yet because we haven’t done any meets yet this year. Lake Central should do good this year, we have a pretty strong team.

Q: How do you letter?

A: You have to score points individually in track meets for the team. Every place earns a certain amount of points. First place is 10 points, second place is six points, third is three and fourth is zero. So, scoring the top three of your events gets you points for your varsity letter and towards the team’s meet score. If you get 15 varsity points then you can letter.

Q: Why are you in track?

A: I just like competing in a sport. I’ve done track since I was in middle school. It keeps me busy and it’s fun. I like all the girls on the team too so thats a big part of it.
