On April 26, varsity baseball took on the Merrillville Pirates. The Indians won with a score of 8-0. Joseph Graziano’s (11) performance on the mound contributed to the Indians’ win.
“I thought we put ourselves in a good position with [Graziano] on the mound and that we would have a great chance to win that ballgame,” Head Coach Jeff Sandor, English, said.
Graziano threw his fourth straight shutout with 11 strikeouts and only gave up one hit, despite the cold weather.
“I don’t really like the cold. It affects my speed and I’m just not as loose,” Graziano said.
During the fifth inning, Benjamin Nisle (11) hit an inside-the-park grand slam to secure the victory. He ended with two hits and five RBI’s.
“I thought we hit really well in one inning but I thought we were really flat and kind of down in others,” Coach Sandor said.
The Indians are currently 12-3 and look to continue their success throughout the rest of the season.
