On May 11, the JV boys baseball team played the LaPorte Slicers at Lake Central. The boys suffered a loss with a final score of 3-1. This loss was unexpected from the team.
“The game did not go as expected, that’s for sure. We started off kind of flat and let the pitcher dictate how the game went. We didn’t play our best, and it should have been better,” Martin Ewing (10) said.
The pitcher who the boys had to bat against ended up being a challenge to the Indians.
“[LaPorte] had an above average pitcher. We struggled because that was the most difficult pitching we’ve faced all season. It was difficult to master our timing because the pitcher changed speeds frequently,” Raymond Hilbrich (10) said.
For future games, there are some things that the team could still improve upon.
“As a team, we need to play better as a unit and string together [well] at bats. We need to help each other out. We didn’t do much of that,” Ewing said.
The next game will be against Andrean on May 14.
