With sleepy eyes, students filed through the doors of Lake Central on August 15 for their first day of school.
“This morning I was a little nervous to come to high school just because it is a new place, [but] my first day has been okay. My first day of classes has been good. My teachers are all nice so far. It has been nice to see friends again,” Nathan Doyle (9) said.
The first day of high school always glistens with expectations of the coming year.
“My first day has been fun. I liked seeing my new classes, and I’m finally on the first floor, so I felt older. I’m looking forward to homecoming because I went last year and it was a lot of fun,” Brianna Barone (10) said.
This year, the school implemented a new schedule, which caused confusion for some students.
“The schedule is different this year, but I don’t really like it because I don’t know how to work it with all the lunches,” Brianna Barone (10) said.
For seniors, the first day of their last year musters mixed emotions.
“It is weird being a senior because I keep thinking this is the last time I am going to be doing this, or doing that. It is really exciting but nerve-wracking to think about leaving [high school],” Frances Kornelik (12) said.
