Trump and Hillary Supporters React

Many people have strong feelings toward Donald Trump’s win. Walter Aleksic (12) is a Trump supporter. He explained why he chose to support Trump.

“I support Trump because I believe in a lot of his policies and it’s something different for a change. If you look left or right it doesn’t matter, it’s the same thing over and over again. Hillary would have been the same thing as Obama, same thing as Bush [Jr], it’s a system. It’s time to break the system, and Donald Trump is the man to do it,” Aleksic said.

Isabella Gomez (12) is a Hillary Clinton supporter. She explained why Hillary Clinton would have made a better president.

“I think she would be a better president because of how she stands for social justice. I think she would have made a lot of progress. I think that our country will be taking a few steps back for social justice with Trump and Pence in office,” Gomez declared.

In the wake of the election, people showed their thoughts of Trump by protesting.

“I understand where they’re coming from, but here’s the thing: Trump won the election. The thing is at the end of the day if Hillary won, there would still be a lot of people upset. There are problems on both sides,” Aleksic said.

“I think that people have the right of protest; it’s part of freedom of speech. I think that if anything wants to be changed in this country, it’s important that we have them [protests] and nobody is punished for their beliefs,” Gomez said.

Despite many people feeling disappointed with Trumps win, many Clinton supporters hope Trump does his very best in office for the sake of the United States.

“I’m willing to give him a chance because I want to see the country as a whole succeed and grow. Just because I don’t support him doesn’t mean that other people don’t and you can’t hate them for their opinions. I don’t hope things turn out terribly,” Gomez said.
