Gavin Baisa (12) is mid-stroke in his 100-meter fly. This was a close race for Baisa.

On Tuesday Dec.13, the boys varsity swimming and diving team took on the LaPorte Slicers. The boys won with a final score of 102-84.

“This meet had the most energy of any meet so far this [season]. Even when I was in the water, I could still hear the screaming from the crowd and see my teammates jumping up and down during every race.  It makes for a great atmosphere,” Gavin Baisa (12) said.

Since it is still early in the boys’ season, this meet gave them momentum going into Winter Break and then second half of the season.

“This season is going to be challenging because we did lose five of our seniors, [so] we really need to step it up,” Riley Ingram (10) said.

Coming into this dual meet, the boys knew it was going to be a close one and everybody would have to give it their all.

“I broke my personal 100-meter free time in the relay, by 0.60 seconds,” Michael Zajac (10) said.

They boys’ next swimming and diving meet will be on Friday, Dec. 30, at 12:00 p.m. at Highland for the Highland Invite.
