On Tuesday, Jan.10, the varsity boys basketball team took on the Highland Trojans at home. The Indians took their fourth home at home with that night with a final score of 59-44.
“The game went very well. We all played as a team and shared the ball and tried to find the open man. It was a good win overall,” Joseph Graziano (12) said.
During the first quarter, the Trojans took the lead, but Lake Central ended the quarter up by one point. The Indians went into the halftime with a lead of 22-17.They then kept the lead the entire game and withheld the Trojans from scoring until the middle of the third quarter.
“Everyone was locked in before tip off, and we had a great feeling. Even though we started off slow, we didn’t let up and in the third quarter the guys came off the bench and gave us a great spark going into the fourth,” Norell Smith (12) said.
Even though the Indians gained a win Friday night, some players kept in mind what aspects they need to improve on to continue winning for the rest of the season.
“We can improve on our shot selection and our team defense. I think if we improve in both those areas we will be tough to beat,” Graziano said.
The next home game for the Indians will be Thursday, Feb. 2. The boys will play against the Valparaiso Vikings at 7 p.m.
