The boys track team took on their first home indoor meet against Crown Point on Tuesday, March 8 and lost.

“The season, I think, is going well, especially since we are only at our second meet of the season,” Kevin Holechko (10) said.

Although this was considered a varsity meet, the coaches from Lake Central only ran their JV team.

“I think on Tuesday we decided to run our JV because all of our varsity runners had run on Saturday. I think they felt like this was JV’s chance to run their first meet against Crown Point and see how we would do. Our coach wanted all the varsity runners to be ready to run on this coming Saturday at Purdue,”Holechko said.

Even though the team lost, there was still a hope of excitement from the team and the fans.

“The overall atmosphere of the meet was pretty exciting. It was the first home meet, and I think some people were feeling a mix of nerves and excitement,” Joshua Chen (9) said.

The varsity runners have a meet this Saturday, March 11, at Purdue. The next JV meet will be on Thursday, March 16.
