Q&A: Sydney Batnick (11)

Q: When did you start getting into tennis?

A: I started getting into tennis when I did summer lessons through the parks of recreation in St. John at Civic Park when I was seven years old.

Q: Why did you join?

A: I joined because I wanted to try a new sport and I ended up sticking with it.

Q: What do you hope to achieve by the end of the season?

A: My goal this year was to letter for JV, which I did.

Q: How much time is dedicated to tennis?

A: In season, my time dedicated to tennis is about three hours a day, six days a week. Off season depends on school, but in summer I hit a few days a week.

Q: Describe the relationship you have with your team.

A: Our team is like a huge family. Nobody really hates each other because we all get along so well, from seniors to freshmen, we are there for each other.

Q: What are your strengths?

A: My strengths are my forehands and first serves.

Q: What are your weaknesses?

A: Weaknesses are backhand and overheads and sometimes volley.

Q: What is your position on the team?

A: My position this year on the team was JV 3 Singles.

Q: What has been your favorite moment of the season?

A: My favorite moment from this season was when I whacked myself in the face with my racquet so hard that my nose started bleeding. I didn’t have fun at the time, but looking back at that, it was hilarious.

Q: Do you plan to continue playing tennis after high school?

A: I plan on hitting here and there once in awhile after high school. Tennis is a life sport, so I could go back to it anytime.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?

A: The thing I enjoy most about tennis is being part of a team, and I am really going to miss that once I graduate next year.
