On May 15, the senior varsity softball players ended their LC carrer with a bang when the varsity team slaughtered Griffith 11-0. The game ended after a farewell seniors ceremony for players Madison Blythe, Cristal Guzman, Alex Hickey and manager Nick Rossi.
“It’s like freshman year was just yesterday and now it’s senior night. It’s like ‘oh my god,’” Blythe said.
The seniors stood with their parents surrounded by the crowd and their team as they were presented with flowers and few words from coach Mr. Jeffery Sherman, Mathematics.
“[Being a senior] is bittersweet because I know I’m going to keep playing softball but also nice to finish your career here on a good note,” Hickey said.
The girls started the game off with three runs in the first inning and swept the game with four runs in the second inning and then another four in the third.
“This season has been really good, but I’m super excited [for next years team],” Hickey said.
The girls go off to sectionals on May 23.
