The Lake Central varsity boys soccer team fell short against Munster at home on Monday, Aug. 28 with a loss of 3-1.
“We put these guys on our schedule because we know it’s going to be a good game. Just that natural rivalry, you knew the excitement was going to be high,” Coach Jereme Rainwater, Vocational, said.
At halftime, Lake Central came in the lead of 1-0 with a goal from Emilio Zambrano (9). It was Zambrano’s first goal as a Lake Central varsity soccer player.
“Yesterday’s game went well, I’m glad I got my first goal of the season,” Zambrano said.
Things were going pretty well for the team until towards the middle of the second half, goalie Noah Osearo (12) took a tough tackle to his head causing the assistant goalie to come into play. Fans and teammates were very concerned about Osearo and his injuries.
“Unfortunately for us, right after the injury things didn’t continue, but we can build on it, we can look from it and see if we can get better for next time we see them,” Coach Rainwater, said.
The natural rivalry between the two teams didn’t stop the team from playing with hard work and devotion. The team looks forward to start the Duneland Athletic Conference on Wednesday, Aug. 30 against Portage.
