The freshman volleyball team played against Chesterton on Aug. 24 winning all three sets, with the last set ending 25-14.
“[The girls] are getting better game by game, which is what I want. I think both teams will get better as the year goes on. I think if we played them again it would be a little bit more of a challenge,” Coach Kaily Thompson said.
The Indians won the first set 25-13 and the second set 25-14.
“In the beginning, if we get down on ourselves or if we’re not coming through, [we are in a slump]. In this game we [were], but we got right out of it,” Grace Renschen (9) said.
Even though the team had to deal with two injured players, they were able to persevere against the Trojans.
“We came together as a team knowing that there is not someone to backup to be there, but we have to stick together as a team,” Renschen said.
The next game the team plays is on Sept. 5 against Michigan City at home.
