Q: How many years have you been dancing?
A: I’ve been dancing since I was about five-years-old.
Q: Where do you dance at?
A: I dance at Indiana Ballet Theatre.
Q:What styles of dance do you do and which one is your favorite?
A: I do ballet, modern, jazz and contemporary. Ballet is probably my favorite, but I love performing modern dances.
Q:Do you dance in any kind of ballets?
A:I’ve done “Cinderella” twice, performed in “Swan Lake”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Firebird” once, and this year will be my fifth “Nutcracker”.
Q: When and where is Nutcracker?
A: It’s on Dec, 14 and 15, and it’s our last one at the Star Plaza in Merrillville, Ind.
Q: What role(s) will you be playing for Nutcracker this year?
A: This year I’m a snowflake, Marzipan and Yellow Rose.
Q: Does dance ever interfere with school?
A: Sometimes it does, but being able to manage your time is extremely important. I dance a minimum of 12 hours a week, so fitting in time for homework can be hard. I have to skip school for performances, but overall it’s not too bad.
Q: How do you handle missing school for productions?
A: I always make sure I talk to my teachers about what I’m going to miss and I gather all my work to do backstage. That way I don’t fall behind in my classes.
Q: Can you picture yourself dancing in the future?A: Absolutely, after high school I plan on dancing as long as my body allows me to.
Q: If you were to describe the way you feel when you dance in one word, what would it
be?
A: Invigorating.
