On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the varsity girls volleyball team faced off against the Merrillville Pirates. The Indians swept the Pirates in all three sets. In addition to the Indians’ victory, the three seniors celebrated senior night.
“It was incredible. I was surrounded by the people I care about the most and got to share some really special moments with everyone that night. The table my teammates put together for me was beautiful and I’m so grateful I get to call them my friends,” Lauren Stearns (12) said.
During the first two sets, the Indians left no room for the Pirates to win. Once the end of the third set came, the Indians and Trojans were tied at 24-24, but the Indians eventually won all three sets.
“We came out strong in the first set and continued to play that way throughout the whole game, so it was a good way to win on our senior night,” Kaylee Marovich (12) said.
With the season coming to an end soon, the girls remember the lows and the highs from throughout the season.
“It was hard at first adapting to a new coach so close to the start of the season but we all worked hard together as a team to make this season a fun and memorable one for everyone,” Stearns said.
