On Tuesday, Oct. 21 2017 the girls swimming and diving team had their first meet. The meet had tough competition but the girls pulled out a win after all their hard work.
The girls won their first meet of the season 134-52 and can’t wait to win more. The team makes sacrifices to keep up with the practices and preparing for meets.
“A lot of time goes towards swimming, so I’ve been behind in school work but I always catch up,” Emily Soeka (10) said.
All the swimmers and divers cheered each other as they try to beat the others swimmers time and the other divers score.
“We compete with each other, so we are competitive but we’re also nice to each other. We want each other to do the best that we can,” Elisabeth Prince (11) said.
The swimmers try to improve their skills after every meet and every practice. They set goals for the season that they try to beat at every meet.
“My biggest goal this season is to win sectionals as a team and also to beat Munster in our dual meet. It’d be really cool if we won Highland Invite this year because it hasn’t happened in such a long time. Our team this year is really good and I’m really looking forward to this season,” Julianna Massa (12).
