In the midst of the heavy snow storm that was pounding outside on Monday, Jan. 15, the freshman boys basketball team arrived and prevailed against their Michigan City opponents.
“We have played them before. They were a fast team and they wanted to play a lot of one on one basketball so we were ready for that. My mindset going in was just take smart shots and getting up and down the floor on defense,” Bryan Stokes (9) said.
After a very back and forth game, the Indians came out on top for the first half when Graham Weber (9) raced against the clock to make a buzzer beating shot, and he accomplished just that.
“[Buzzer beaters don’t] happen often but when it does it really gets us energized. It has us feeling good going into the second half,” Stokes said.
The Michigan City Wolves began to close their margins. Thankfully, the boys pulled back after figuring out what they had to work on and improve.
“We had to start talking to each other so that we could stop running bad passes. We had to pick up our energy a little too,” Stokes said.
