Samantha Dittrich (12) is giving it her all while running the relay race. She passed off the botan to her teammate after she ran.

On Friday, March 9, the girls track team had an unscoring meet against both Highland and Hammond Morton in the field house at Lake Central. An unscoring meet is where the team competes with another team, keeping points for only the top three places.

The girls season is just coming to a start, so this meet allowed them to get in practice before the season officially commences. The team’s season is off to a great start. Many of the girls are excited for the upcoming season.

“I think the season is going well. Every practice we are improving our speeds as a whole,” Carolyn Delgado (11) said.

The girls ran their hearts out during the meet, reaching some of their personal goals and records. Running was a big part of the meet as well as pole vault, long jump, high jump, shot put and disc.

“The race was good, I ran faster. I think I got my personal record in my event, the 4×8,” Lillian Zubeck (10) said.

The girls’next meet is Friday, March 16.
