Lake Central boys track competed in their first outdoor meet of the year. The boys travelled to Portage High School where they competed against Portage and Valparaiso High School.
“We expected to beat Portage and be close to [Valparaiso]. They have a strong distance team as to where we are stronger in our field events,” Alexander Rhody (9) said.
The meet started off with the field events and shortly following the distance 4x 800 meter relay competed and placed second place.
“I think the team did okay. A couple guys definitely stepped up and we did really well,” Jordan Duggan (9) said.
Notable performances came from Jack Davis (11) who jumped 6’2 in the High Jump and William Duzynski (12) who placed second in the two mile.
“I was pretty upset about the loss. Next meet, I’ll have to make sure I run a little better and hopefully the rest of the team does as well,” Duszynski said.
The meet ended with Lake Central placing second defeating Portage but losing to Valparaiso. The boys’ next meet is scheduled for April 14 at Homewood Flossmoor.
