Boys Cross Country competed in the Harrison Invite in West Lafayette on Sept. 1. The boys competed against 20 teams.
“I see a lot of improvement from the guys. We are really stepping up and I think we will continue to improve. Hopefully by the end of the year some of us can break 16 and I hope to break 17.” Zakaria Mohiuddin (10) said.
The course that the team raced on is used by Purdue University. The course is notoriously known for being fast. However this year many of the athletes ran slower than expected. The varsity team ran seven boys and Isaac Beatty (12) placed fourth and Logan Russell (9) placed 23 out of the top 35.
“I think I ran a lot slower than expected, I didn’t feel like i was ready to run that day and I felt like I didn’t have enough energy. Also last year the weather was a lot colder than this year. The humidity played a big factor in how we raced on Saturday I think,” Ben Knoll (12) said.
The remainder of the team ran JV with Ben Watta (12) and Avery Ramos (9) placing in the top 35 for JV. The team placed sixth place out of 20 other teams. The boy’s next race is Saturday, Sept. 8 at Lowell High School.
