After a six year hiatus, the Jonas Brothers released their new single “Sucker” on Friday, March 1, 2019 making it their first number one hit ever.
The band broke up in 2012, but the Jonases obviously remained close – they are brothers, after all. Both middle brother Joe and younger brother Nick pursued their solo music careers, while the eldest, Kevin, started a family. It wasn’t long after the breakup that Nick said he’d love to one day reunite the band.
The Jonas Brothers surprised fans by announcing their reunion on social media. Just hours before their new song and video were released, the brothers teamed up with James Corden to reveal that “Sucker” would drop at midnight.
The music video features Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas. Danielle and Kevin Jonas got married in 2009, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas announced their engagement in 2017 and Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas were married in December.
The women take on co-starring roles in the video, as well, set at a lavish party at a European manor. There is serious fashion, lots of dancing and drinking champagne in bathtubs. The video includes colorful, lavish scenes of the three couples together on a huge estate as the brothers sing about being “suckers” for the women. It was filmed at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, UK.
The opening scene features the brothers wearing eye-catching ensembles of a red bedazzled suit jacket for Kevin, all red attire for Nick, and a traditional black jacket and turtleneck for Joe. Throughout the video, each couple gets their chance to shine before they all come together as a group and pose while an artist paints their portrait.
As expected, after the official release of “Sucker” at midnight on March 1, fans from all over the world took to social media to express all the feels after getting to listen to the song and see the music video for the first time.
