Monday night, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team played their first home game of the season and swept away their Highland competitors with final scores of 25-5, 25-18, and 25-21.
“We kind of knew it wasn’t going to be the hardest game, but we still have to play higher than that level,” Taylor Ellis (10) said.
Even though they knew the game was not the most high-stakes game of the season, the energy was high going in.
“I was really excited and nervous at the same time. I’m sure most of my team was as well, because it was our first home game of the season, but I knew we would beat them because we usually beat Highland,” Brooke Renner (10) said.
A win like that, though, doesn’t come out of nothing. After a pre-season loss against Munster, the team knew that they had to work hard to gain a win like this.
“We have worked very hard at practice to prepare for tough matches in the season and we have all improved a lot from before the season started,” Renner said.
