Collecting Cozy Clothes for Those in Need
February 8, 2021
This winter, N-Teens held a Winter Wear Drive, a clothing drive for winter apparel donations. The club wanted to donate the items to a place that didn’t sell the clothing. When they found a contact at the Salvation Army, who was interested in winter clothing, the clothing drive began. It started on Jan. 27 and finished on Feb. 3.
“Our goal is to collect as many coats, hats, gloves, etc. as we can so we can donate them to people in need of winter clothing. Any Lake Central student and staff can donate. They can also spread the word to their families, and then the students or staff can bring it in. We have a humongous bin filled all the way to the top with bags of clothes. We wanted to plan this activity so we can help others that are in need during these tough times,” Olivia Klein (10) said.
N-Teens is a community service club that is conducted by Mrs. Kristina Collard (English department). In the past, the club has volunteered to work events in the area, written letters to senior citizens at nursing homes and lent a helping hand to people in need.
“We are currently writing pen pal letters to elementary students, and we are planning a local garbage pickup day. We would also like to do something for local animals in need and possibly have a teacher/faculty car wash in May,” Collard said.
After the amount of donations, the club is ready to give its clothing to those in need. N-Teens would like to thank everyone who donated or spread the word about their drive.
“We have over two bins full of items, and we have one more day where students, teachers, and faculty can donate,” Collard said.
