The varsity boys tennis team lost to Crown Point in the first round of Sectionals by a score of 0-5. Though they came up on the short end of the racket, the boys can take pride in their performance.
“I was persistent in trying to hit the ball to my opponent’s backhand,” Thomas Ruzga (11) said.
Ruzga, who played 1 singles, kept the match competitive. Bradley Staszewski (12), who played 1 doubles with Lee Sayger (12) also played a tough match.
“Even though we lost, I took pride in being able to exploit the weakness of my opponent,” Staszewski said.
It was Staszewski’s last match of his Lake Central tennis career.
“My favorite part of being on the tennis team was all of the fun we had. We kept everything loose, and it was very enjoyable,” Staszewski said.
The Tribe can be counted on as a force to be reckoned with in the future.
