On Wednesday Sept. 19, the varsity boys soccer team played Valparaiso at home. The game was a struggle, and despite a last minute attempt to tie the game, the boys fell to Valpo 0-1.
“We did alright. We definitely could have done a lot better, but we just got lucky in the last second; we could have scored with the post. We’ll get it next time” Paulius Junokas (12) said.
By the end of the game, LC was down by one with about a minute left. Joshua Crague (12) took a shot on the other team before time ran out, and the ball slammed against the top cross bar and was sent away with too little time left to recover the play.
“We played to the final whistle. We just couldn’t find the back of the net,” Ulises Hernandez (12) said.
Valparaisio played a good game and showed LC some tough competition. Many shots were taken on both teams.
“[Our biggest competition is] definitely Crown Point and Chesterton, and so is Valpo,” Junokas said.
