The varsity volleyball team won their first regional championship since 1994 on Oct. 23.
However, on Saturday at Huntington High School, after losing their games 25-10, 25-12 and 25-15 against Carmel High School, the girls’ fight for Semi-State ended.
With Carmel ranked No. 2 in the state, the girls knew they had a challenge ahead of them. Some of the girls were nervous and others ready to fight for the win, all it took was a few bad hits to throw them out of sync.
“I was nervous, but at the same time we all wanted to win,” Lauren DiNino (12) said.
Early into the game, Carmel got some good hits putting LC out of sync and unable to recover. Carmel sophomore, Carly Skjodt, was a major player against the Indians.
“They’re at a whole other level. The pace of the game wasn’t the same we saw from our previous games[that we played],” Coach Tina Tinberg said.
The girls ended their season with a record of 28-10.
