The freshman girls basketball team defeated Portage 51-20 at home on Nov. 13.
“I think we did well as a team. Our defense could have been better, but overall, it was a good game,” Zhanae Howard (9) said.
The girls ended the first half of the game with a 15 point lead. The Lady Indians were able to keep a steady lead over Portage throughout the entire game, as they shot 26 more points in the second half for a final total of 51 points to Portage’s 20. Lake Central came out with a win in the end and upped their record to 2-0.
“I hope to win the conference title this season and go undefeated. After winning the first two games, we’ll have to work to keep our zero losses,” Renee DiNino (9) said.
The freshman Lady Indians will play again on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Munster High School at 10:00 a.m.
