On Thursday, Jan. 10, freshman boys basketball took on the Crown Point Bulldogs, resulting in a 41-37 loss for the A team and a 46-27 win for the B team.
The A team managed to keep a small margin between themselves and the opposing team throughout the game. At halftime, the score was tied 21-21. The teams were tied on three separate occasions, Gage Ray (9) assisted in two of these instances.
“[The B team was] really motivated because we were on our home court and we wanted to beat our rival. We lost [the A team game] and people thought we were weak in some areas. We wanted to come out and prove them wrong,” Ryan Ruthrauff (9) said.
The B team kept an advantage over Crown Point throughout the game, starting off with a 14-6 lead in the first quarter. By the third quarter, they had a lead of 18 points.
“I think we just need to stay consistent on how we play. Now we’re starting to play more as a team and we’re moving the ball around more fluently. We just need to keep things up,” Ruthrauff said.
The team’s following game was an away game at Michigan City on Monday, Jan. 14.
