On Saturday Feb.16, the boys varsity swim team competed in their Sectional meet at Crown Point High School. The boys placed third in this meet.
“We had a smaller team than last year, so we finished third instead of second,” Luke Paprocki (12) said.
Paprocki won his sectional heat for the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.57.
“Winning two years in a row was a great accomplishment because I felt that I have had a successful high school career and am now ready to go onto college,” Paprocki said.
Underclassmen also played a vital role at the meet.
“I felt like I did really good my first event but I felt like I could have done a lot better in my 500, but it’s okay because I still have two more years of Sectionals left,” Joshua Barajas (10) said.
Members of the team will be participating in State at IUPUI in Indianapolis on Friday Feb. 22.
“’Smo’ is doing a good job of mentally and physically preparing us for state. He’s just talking to us and we’re just hoping we’ll make it back for finals on Saturday,” Barajas said.
