The boys basketball team traveled to West Side High School to face Lowell in their first playoff game this season. Despite the nerves, the Indians came out victorious with a score of 54-44.
“We’re always excited about the first Sectional game. We just knew that we needed to work hard and not overlook them,” Tye Wilburn (11) said.
LC was favored to win, but Lowell put up a fight, keeping the score close for most of the game.
“If we keep them down we knew they would hold the ball, so we just needed to keep the lead and play good defense,” Wilburn said.
LC usually plays a man-to-man defense, but since Lowell did not shoot from the outside much, they also played zone defense. Using different defenses helped the boys come out with the win.
“It was a relief to win, but now we need to focus on the next game,” Matthew Meneghetti (11) said.
The boys defeated Morton Friday night, but lost to Munster in overtime on Saturday night.
