For every senior that participates in extracurriculars at Lake Central, there comes a time when they have to say goodbye to what they’ve known and move on to another chapter in their lives. This past weekend marked not only the closing night of the musical Once on This Island, but the last musical ever to be performed in the current auditorium.
“The last night was a really rough time because it’s the last musical that’s going to be in this auditorium. I’m really glad that I got a chance to be a part of that,” Dayana Yos (12) said.
The final performance in the auditorium will be the fall play around October 2014, when the curtains will close for the last time.
“Since it was the last show, it’s kind of sad. [The cast] did really well though, so it’s a bittersweet feeling; I’m going to miss going up there and making a complete fool of myself,” Jacob Quintanilla (12) said.
Because so much time is spent in the auditorium for rehearsals, it holds many memories and learning experiences that will follow the actors and actresses as they continue with their careers.
“The auditorium here is home. We knew it was our last [performance], [so] we had to make it count,” Yos said.
