Lake Central plays baseball with high expectations, for they have recently beat Valparaiso, and wanted to continue this winning trend.
“The second time around in conference is always tougher than the first, and you have to double up against the tough competitors, like Valparaiso,” Anthony Schneider (12) said.
The Vikings started off getting two runs in the first inning, but LC wouldn’t stand for this. Ryan Burvan (12) crossed the plate, and not long behind were Alec Olund (11) and Brenden Seren (11). This brought the score to 3-2, LC.
The game stayed still, with no runs in the second and third innings. This soon changed in the fourth inning. Bradley Staszewski (12), Steven Fulk (12) and Burvan played well, taking the score up to 6-2.
“Right now we’re on a hot streak and we hope to bring this into Sectionals and keep it going from there,” Burvan said.
Lake Central stayed ahead, and won the game 8-5. The boys hope of this streak continuing throughout the rest of their season.
