Varsity golfers from all over the region started off their first weekend of summer by arriving at Palmira Golf Course on Friday, May 31, to kick off their Sectionals.
The weather was not really up to par for playing golf, but the boys didn’t let that stop them.
“The course was playing really difficult with extreme winds, so all of the scores were pretty high, but we ended up getting second which was good enough for us to advance to Regionals,” Matthew Meneghetti (11) said.
After playing against 15 other teams, the top three teams advance to Regionals. Fortunately for the Indians, the second place finish has allowed them to advance on to Regionals. They fell right in between Crown Point, who took first, and Munster who took third.
“It feels really good knowing we’re advancing to Regionals after all the hard work we have put in. We have some work to do before Regionals, but I’m confident in our team,” Rhett Barker (11) said.
Golf Regionals will be held at Battlegrounds Golf Course in Lafayette on Friday, June 7.
