Boys tennis crushes East Chicago
September 5, 2013
On Friday Aug. 30, both JV and varsity boys tennis teams defeated East Chicago Central with the best score possible, 5-0.
“I had a strong feeling we were going to win,” Jacob Navarra (11) said.
Even in the intense heat, the team pushed through and came out victorious.
“We were all sweating really bad, but it’s just another challenge you have to overcome,” James Lafakis (11) said.
The coaches and players do not define themselves by JV or varsity, they consider themselves one team. They practice together, work off each other and help each other out.
“East Chicago is putting up a good fight, but we’re doing good,” Coach Dave Cafmeyer said as he watched the teams go head-to-head.
In the end, Lake Central came out victorious over East Chicago. This was the third win out of four games for the team.
Their next game will be played here at Lake Central on Tuesday, Sept. 3 against Crown Point.
