Varsity volleyball dominates first DAC match
September 9, 2013
The varsity volleyball team huddled on the court as they prepared to play their DAC rivals – the Chesterton Trojans. At the team’s first conference match, the expectations were high from both the coaches and the players.
Head coach Tina Tinberg had a strategy planned out to come out strong in this important game. Momentum is a huge part of how well a volleyball game will unfold.
“It’s our first conference match. [The Chesterton coach] always comes up with some good stuff. We need to establish dominance quickly and come out fearless.” Tinberg said.
The girls swept the Trojans in three lightning-fast games. The scores were, 25-14, 25-13, 25-22.
“It went really well. We played at a very high level,” Tinberg said.
With such a quick win against such a big rival, the girls are expecting a fantastic season. Varsity player Megan Malatestinic (12) has high hopes for the rest of the season.
“I’m looking forward to growing as a team and gaining important wins. As the season goes on, we’re looking for the team chemistry to build. It’ll help with the post-season,” Malatestinic said.
