On Oct. 9, one of Lake Central’s biggest advocates, Tom Peyton, died.

Peyton served the Lake Central School Corporation as a Physical Education and Health teacher and coached various sports. Peyton coached golf, tennis, freshmen football, cross-country and boys and girls basketball. In 1970, he led the boys basketball team to their first Sectional title.

In 1985, Peyton took over as Athletic Director, a position he served until his retirement in 1991. Altogether, he served 33 years in the corporation. After his retirement, Peyton continued to attend LC football and basketball games.

A visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home in St. John Friday, Oct. 10. Funeral services will be held Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
