It was a great running day according to the Girls Cross Country team; the weather was perfect. The girls won against Crown Point, putting them at 5-0 and tied with Portage for best in the region. There was a lot of pressure on the team because they were running against one of their biggest competitors.

“[The meet] went really well for this course, especially because it was Crown Point, our biggest competition. All I kept thinking about was ‘we have to beat them, we have to beat Crown Point’,” Sarah Hudi (11) said.

The team pulled through in the end. Shelby Carroll (12) dominated, placing first with a time of 19:26.

“I wish I could have run because everyone did so well today!” Victoria Ortega (10) said.

The girls run at home again on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, against Portage and Valparaiso. They have high hopes to keep the winning streak running.
