N-Teens held its first call out meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2, after school in C114. Mrs. Kelsey Becich’s, English, room was jam packed; students had to sit on the floor and stand against the walls.
“I’m looking forward to working with the same officers [from last year] because I feel like we’ve built a relationship so I’m excited for that. But I’m also really excited for all the new kids coming in. The meeting today had a ton of people and was great to see some new faces,” Mrs. Becich said.
N-Teens is a social and community service based club for all students. Members pay a $5 fee to join and are provided with many volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Each student also has to reach 40 volunteer hours in order to receive a free Six Flags ticket.
“I heard it was about volunteering and I really like volunteering and helping out. I think it’s a great way to interact with people and to help out at specific events,” Ann Rajput (9) said.
There have been many changes going on within the club over recent years. Vice President Anna Hallowell (10) hopes to keep students involved by becoming integrated with the community.
“My goals for this year is to get the club organized better and to keep members updated on events in a more efficient way. I’m excited and I look forward to work with the president to help make the club even better. I would like to get our club involved with volunteer fairs to find more great opportunities and help our club get immersed with the community,” Hallowell said.
The club is also in charge of coordinating Winter Formal, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Halls of St. George.
“We haven’t come up with a theme yet…we still have to think about it. We’re probably going to have a special meeting for that, but I’m thinking about it,” Kassie Woodworth, Winter Formal Coordinator, (12) said.
The N-Teens next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, after school. To keep up with any upcoming events or schedule changes follow @LCNTeens or their Facebook page: LC N-Teens.
